Privacy Statement

Who are we?
HaalTheorie is an online learning platform that focuses on helping candidates prepare for their CBR (the Dutch driving test organisation) theory exam for cars, mopeds and motorcycles. Through our website www.haaltheorie.nl (the “Website”) we offer practice exams, video courses and other digital learning materials.
When you use our Website and services, we process personal data. We consider your privacy important and handle this data with care. In this Privacy Statement we explain how we handle your personal data and what rights you have.

Who is this privacy policy intended for?
This statement applies to everyone who:
- Visits our Website;
- Uses our digital products;
- Contacts us;
- Applies for a job with us;
- Provides business services to us.
What personal data do we process and why?
1. Website visits
When you visit our Website, we automatically collect certain data such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited and time of visit. We do this to make our Website function properly and to optimise it. We keep this data for a maximum of two years.
To prevent misuse, we limit how often someone can do certain things in quick succession, such as asking a chat question, taking the free trial lesson or linking a purchase to your account. For this purpose we keep your IP address, or an encrypted derivative of it, for a short time: usually one hour and at most one day.
When you log in, Cloudflare Turnstile checks in the background whether you are a human and not an automated program. You will not notice anything and do not need to click anything. To do this, Cloudflare uses, among other things, your IP address and data about your browser. Read how Cloudflare handles this in the Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

2. Orders
When you purchase a product through our Website (such as access to the full course), we use your email address to give you access to the service. This data is necessary for the performance of the contract. We keep your account and your progress for as long as your account exists; you can delete it yourself in your account, under Profile. We keep order and payment data for seven years, because the law requires us to.
3. Marketing (with consent)
We may use tracking pixels and cookies from platforms such as Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Google (Google Ads, Google Analytics) to show you personalised advertisements and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. We only process this data with your consent.
4. Suppliers
If you provide services to HaalTheorie (such as video production), we process your contact details and payment information for the performance of the contract. We keep this data for as long as the collaboration continues; we keep invoices for seven years, because the law requires us to.
5. Job applications
Are you applying for a job with us? Then we process your contact details, motivation and CV solely to assess your application. We delete this data no later than 4 weeks after the end of the procedure, unless you consent to us keeping it for one year longer.
6. Direct marketing
Have you bought something from us? Then we may inform you by email about similar products. You can always unsubscribe from this using the unsubscribe link in the email. When you unsubscribe, we delete your data for this purpose.
7. Google Ads conversion measurement
If you arrive at our Website via a Google advertisement and then make a purchase, we share aggregated purchase data (such as the purchase amount, order ID, click identifier such as GCLID and your email address) with Google Ads for conversion measurement and advertisement optimisation. Google uses this data solely to measure which advertisements are effective. You can object to this processing via wegenwacht@haaltheorie.nl.
8. Contact
Do you contact us by email or via the contact form? Then we only use your data to answer your question. We keep this data for as long as is necessary to deal with it.
With whom do we share your data?
- Processors: Parties that work on our behalf: Supabase and Vercel (storage and hosting, in Frankfurt), TransIP (sending email), Mailchimp (email about your course and our newsletter), Shopify (orders), VdoCipher (playing videos), RevenueCat (in-app purchases) and Cloudflare for the bot check when logging in.
- Chat with Nawfal: A question you ask in the chat is answered by an AI model from OpenAI. For this, your question is sent to OpenAI, and we keep the conversation in order to improve the answers. Therefore, do not include any sensitive information in the chat.
- Payment providers: Such as Mollie, for processing your payment.
- Government authorities: Only where required by law or by court order.
- Service providers outside the EEA: Some of these parties, such as Mailchimp, OpenAI, RevenueCat and Cloudflare, are based in the United States. In the event of a transfer to countries outside the EU, we ensure appropriate safeguards, such as model contracts.
- Advertising platforms: Google (Google Ads) and Meta (Facebook/Instagram) for measuring the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns, only with your consent.
Your rights
You are entitled to:
- Access to your data;
- Correction of inaccurate data;
- Erasure of your data (“right to be forgotten”);
- Restriction of processing;
- Data portability;
- Objection to processing on the basis of our legitimate interest;
- Withdrawal of consent, where applicable.
You can send a request to wegenwacht@haaltheorie.nl. You will receive a response within one month. For complex requests, we may extend this period by a maximum of two months.
