Everything you need to know about the English theory course

Still unsure before you start? These are the questions we hear most often from international students preparing for the Dutch theory exam.

Yes. The CBR offers the category B (car) theory exam in English. One important detail: English is only available for the car exam. The moped and motorcycle exams are in Dutch only. You can also request extra time when you book, which many international candidates do.

The course has three parts: a video course that breaks the material into small steps, a practice environment with all current CBR questions and mock exams, and the latest 2026 animation questions. You can practise 24/7 from your phone, tablet or laptop. New CBR questions are added every week, so you always practise with the most recent material.

Simply put: if you don't pass your CBR theory exam, you keep practising for free until you do. Send us your official CBR result after your exam and we extend your access at no cost. You don't buy a new course and you don't sign up for a subscription. There are no other conditions.

ExamReady Deluxe contains over 2,500 practice questions across all three exam sections: hazard perception, traffic insight and traffic rules. Since April 2025 the CBR tests your traffic insight with moving video instead of photos. You watch a short clip of a traffic situation and have to decide fast: brake, release the accelerator, or continue. In this course you practise with exactly the same type of animation as the real exam, including the newest 2026 variants. Without preparation, this is where most candidates fail.

Yes. You book the theory exam directly with the CBR using DigiD. If you have a BSN, you can apply for DigiD online. This course prepares you for the exam itself — you arrange the booking with the CBR. Most international candidates do this themselves, without a driving school.

Anatomy of the 2026 CBR exam

Since April 2025 the CBR uses four question types across 50 questions in 30 minutes. You train for each one.

Question type 1

Traffic rules, road signs, right of way, speed limits and vehicle knowledge, with 3-4 options.

Question type 2

Yes / no

Is this allowed or not? A fast decision on a traffic situation or a specific rule.

Question type 3

Drag questions
